Lauren Gavrailoff, 2018

Lauren Gavrailoff

Lauren Gavrailoff is an Athletic Therapist with a passion for learning. She made the decision to undertake a Master’s degree because of a personal goal of building on her professional skills.

While completing her master’s, Lauren conducted research in collaboration with North American orthopaedic surgeons to develop expert consensus recommendations and protocols for weight bearing and bracing following tibiofemoral articular cartilage surgery.

Lauren graduated with her MRSc in December of 2017. While acknowledging that she had a good foundation for practice from her undergraduate training, Lauren feels the critical thinking and reflection on practice required during the MRSc coursework truly honed her professionalism as a practitioner. “My career has positively benefitted from the MRSc program by becoming a more resourceful employee at my workplace, gaining global exposure through the organization, and enhancing personal and professional skills in research.”

The research that Lauren completed during her MRSc coursework has been submitted to the American Journal of Orthopedics and has been accepted with minor revisions. In addition, her Abstract titled “Weight-bearing and knee orthoses protocols following cell-based surgeries and structural transplants for tibiofemoral articular cartilage defects: An expert recommendation” has been accepted for a poster presentation by the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS) Focus Meeting 2018 – “I am not ready for Metal”, taking place in Milan, Italy from December 13 – December 14, 2018.

Congratulations, Lauren!
